History
Switzerland has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest every year since it began, except 1995, 1999, 2001, and 2003. Switzerland hosted the first contest in 1956, and won it themselves. Switzerland won the contest again in 1988. A third victory in 1963 could have been possibly had Katie Boyle not recalled the Norwegian for their votes again.
Although most of the Swiss representatives are national acts not known outside of the country, many internationally successful artists have represented the country. In 1988 Céline Dion won the contest for Switzerland, in 1993 Annie Cotton finished third, and in 2005 the girl band Vanilla Ninja finished 8th. Esther Ofarim’s 1963 second-place finish helped establish her as an international success.
Switzerland had been absent from Eurovision four times since their participation began in the first contest. These absences, in 1995, 1999, 2001 and 2003 were caused by poor results in previous contests that relegated Switzerland from the contest.
Switzerland has four official languages, French, German, Italian, and Romansh. For decades, the song requirements stated that the song had to be performed in a national language, which gave Switzerland leeway as they could perform in any of the four languages. Out of their 51 appearances in the Contest, Switzerland has sent 52 songs, 24 of which were in French, 12 in German, nine in Italian, six in English, and one in Romansh. Both of Switzerland’s winning songs have been sung in French.

1956

Switzerland held a national pre selection to choose the two songs that would go to the Eurovision Song Contest 1956. It was held on April 28, 1956.”Das alte Karussell” and “Refrains” won the national pre selection, and “Refrain” went on to win the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest.

lyrics
Refrain
Refrain of love…

Refrain, colour of the sky, the scent of my adolescence
Garden full of sun where I spent my childhood
Everywhere I’ve been looking for you, my distant love
Waiting along the path where you took my hand

The days passed away and we grew up
Love wounded us, time cured us
But lonesome and without spring
I run in vain through the woods, the fields
Say, do you remember our old loves?

The years pass away as quick as lightning
And upon the roofs of my concern pours the rain
Where did the caravels leave, stealing my heart
Carrying my dreams away from your memory?
I wanted you to come back like bygone
Carrying flowers to my shutter
And your childhood to my home

Refrain, colour of the rain, my regret of twenty years
Sorrow, melancholy not to be a child anymore
But lonesome and far from you, along the roads where you are not
I go crying my adolescent loves

The old carousel
The old carousel
It doesn’t go as fast anymore
The ponies and the wagons
They do not want to be in their place

Flattering doesn’t help
And neither does putting up new boards
There is only one thing that does help:
Someone must grease it once in a while

And when the old organ plays
It squeaks like a mouse
And sometimes it becomes too much
Then it suddenly jams

The old carousel
It doesn’t go as fast anymore
The ponies and the wagons
They do not want to be in their place

The small ones and the large ones
They pull and push
And in such a way it goes around in circles

The ponies, the trotting
And the pull on the wagon
And the organ, they become young again

An amusing thing to associate
With this old carousel
From down to above everything is shifted
But it still goes round in a circle

The old carousel
It doesn’t go as fast anymore
The ponies and the wagons
They do not want to be in their place

The old carousel, ooh…
The old carousel

1957

After their win in 1956, Switzerland continued with their format of a national final to select their entry for the 1957 contest.Three artists competed to represent Switzerland: last year’s winner Lys Assia; Jo Roland, who participated at the national final of 1956; and Gianni Ferraresi.
The winner was Lys Assia for the second year, with the song “L’enfant que j’étais”. However, Assia could not repeat her victory in 1956, and came 8th with 5 points.

lyrics
The child that I was
The child that I was, where does she plays today?
Flowers I used to love, who picked them for me?
My heart, do you remember the white dresses
On the losing ways of our Sundays?

Words to sing a friend’s face
Nights to dream, I was so rich
When the heart on the watch, the straggling lock
Goes to school, the child that I was
A winter time, wrinkle takes you
A love time and we’re growing
Much water had flowed under the bridges
Forgotten dreams with the passing seasons
A smile time and we are in love
Time to lie and yet we are old

The child that I was, where is he stray?
Flowers I used to love, who had make them fade?
My heart, do you remember our promises?
Life didn’t want your tenderness
Words to love, hopes and nights
Golden lies, I was so rich
When the heart on the watch, love in head
Going to the fair, the child that I was

lyrics
George
Oh George, George
Oh George from the lake Maggiore
George, a weekend with you in Ascona
In Ascona at the lake Maggiore
With chianti, chianti, chianti, chianti, chianti
A weekend with you
And risotto, risotto, risotto, risotto, risotto, risotto, risotto
Oh George, a weekend with you in Ascona
In Ascona at the lake Maggiore
With love, much love
Oh George, George

A restaurant at the public square
“Waiter!”
“Sir, Madam, would you like an espresso?”
“No – wine!”

Oh George, George
Oh George from the lake Maggiore
George, a weekend with you in Ascona
In Ascona at the lake Maggiore
With chianti, chianti, chianti, chianti, chianti
A weekend with you
And polenta, polenta, polenta, polenta, polenta, polenta, polenta
Oh George, a weekend with you in Ascona
In Ascona at the lake Maggiore
With love, much love
Oh George, George

A night under the moon
A boat – the lake, the mountains and the palms
Gardens, flowers, mimosa

Oh George, George
From the lake Maggiore in Ascona
In Ascona at the lake Maggiore
La la la la la la la la la la…

My beloved! My beloved!
Goodbye! Goodbye my beautiful, beautiful, blonde woman!
Goodbye, bye George

Oh George, George
La la la la la la la la la la la la…
La la la la la la la la la la…
Oh George, George

lyrics
From somewhere
Unknown sky, unknown stars, endless like eternity
Searching restless in the distance sadly the past

From somewhere comes over the sea a melody of love
Longing and pain fill my heart
I never forget our time together

Oh, fairytale of luck, please come back
Don’t let me be lonely
I didn’t know that my heart will break
Why am I so alone?

From somewhere comes over the sea this melody of love
Even if you don’t think about it
This time, I’ll never forget

Oh, fairytale of luck, please come back
Don’t let me be lonely
I didn’t know that my heart will break
Why am I so alone?

From somewhere comes over the sea this melody of love
Even if you don’t think about it
This time, I’ll never forget
This time, I’ll never forget

lyrics
Heaven and earth
Heaven and earth, dream and life
On the road to the one who loves you, like me
The limit of a date
You aren’t there and instead you’re with me now

With thoughts, with words it colours
A name hidden away in the bottom of my heart
It’s true, I’ve got my sun
But I wonder: will he still be mine tomorrow?

One hour of sweet intimacy is too short
Why should I bother? What is it good for?

Heaven and earth, dream and life
On the road to the one who loves you, like me
The limit of a date
We didn’t know about you and now we know everything

One hour of sweet intimacy is too short
Why should I bother? What is it good for?

Heaven and earth, dream and life
On the road to the one who loves you, like me
The limit of a date
You aren’t there and instead you’re with me now

Heaven and earth, dream and life

“Nous aurons demain” (“We’ll have tomorrow”) was the Swiss entrant to the Eurovision Song Contest 1961, held in Cannes, France, and was performed in French. At the close of the voting it had received 16 points, placing 3rd in a field of 16.

lyrics
Tomorrow we’ll have
Tomorrow we’ll have
Gardens for picking bouquets of dreams
Tomorrow we’ll have
A morning for smiling to the rising sun
Tomorrow we could
In the same house, prepare silently
The cradle of luck that we’ll have tomorrow

You complain about living in a house without lights
You don’t have a Sunday and I don’t have a ceiling
When I leave in the morning my outskirt without lights
In another district, you go back to home

Tomorrow we’ll have
Less time for killing, less lonely nights
Tomorrow we’ll go
To the woods for lying down or jumping the rivers
Tomorrow we’ll have
Friends who will come without being illuminated by the moon
And onto the luck that we’ll have tomorrow

You tell me that time slows down every day
You tell me that tomorrow is too late for coming
We’ll never live in Spanish castles
But, my darling, do we have to refuse to build one?

Tomorrow we’ll have
Less time for killing, less lonely nights
Tomorrow we’ll go
To the woods for lying down or jumping the rivers
Tomorrow we’ll have
Friends who will come without being illuminated by the moon
And onto the luck that we’ll have tomorrow

That we’ll have tomorrow
That we’ll have tomorrow

lyrics
The return
After the time of beating hearts
Rough roads, light steps
After the long stay of the distant beautiful days
Everyone gets his turn, it’s the return

We’re grown old in good times
For our four hundred times, a bit much
And there you see where the short walk brought us
Everyone gets his turn, it’s the return

We told him: “You have to know that youth passes by”
He understood when his mirror pulled him a long face
He threw the prime of his life away
At the same time as his knowledge

By searching too much, we wasted
What we had better kept in our eyes
And there you see where the short walk brought us
Everyone gets his turn, it’s the return

But the other time that wait for us
Will be worth other joys with you, with me
It’s the time without detour, the time of love
Everyone gets his turn, it’s the return

Yes, the return of new days

1963

“T’en va pas” (English: Don’t Go) was the Swiss entrant to the Eurovision Song Contest 1963. It was sung in French by Esther Ofarim. At the close of the voting, the song had received 40 points, placing 2nd in a field of 16.

When Katie went back to Norway again the votes had been changed, thus changing the outcome of the contest and giving the victory to Norway’s neighbours Denmark at Switzerland’s expense.

lyrics
Don’t leave
I couldn’t find the words to keep you
But I’m thinking to myself
Don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave
When I was talking a lot of nonsense
It wasn’t my voice
Don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave

In the darkest of summer, when the storm has fallen
The forests bloom again
Don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave
If your heart and your body still remember
A last time
Don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave

Love sometimes made fortresses fall down
Death sometimes made the living find themselves
My joy and my sadness, gone with the wind
Come back to me, you, I’m waiting for you

You, my bread, my sun, which stole my sleep
With you, give it back to me
Don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave
If your heart and your body still remember
A last time
Don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave, don’t leave

And if my voice arrives there with you
Come back to your steps, to your steps, to your teps
Come back to me

The song was composed by Giovanni Pelli and written by Sanzio Chiesa. It received no points, placing joint last (with Germany, Portugal and Yugoslavia) of 16 entries.

lyrics
My thoughts
I’ve always tried in time
To give you better thoughts
I searched looking in the sky
And I’ve seen up there how to do it
Therefore… therefore…

I entrust my thoughts to a cloud
Which takes them far away from you
Slowly, the wind will drive them away
It goes up high in the immense sky

Star words might be able to unite
They’ll be golden letters written in the sky for you
The sun will certainly make them shine
That way you’ll see him above with me

I entrust my thoughts to a cloud
Slowly, slowly she’ll see, without making fuss
It will arrive to you, my love

I entrust my thoughts to a cloud
Slowly, slowly she’ll see, without making fuss
It will arrive to you, my love

Everybody will know what I think of you
Those golden wads are for you

No, forever without you
No, for my lost time only waiting for you
No, for my wasted time only thinking about you
Come on, you see, it’s already tomorrow
Come on, you understood nothing
Come on, you see, I don’t cry
Today I tell you

No, for the big roads coming back for you from far away
No, for the summer nights that only danced with you
Come on, until the end of the horizon
Today it’s no

No, because one morning nothing of you will remain
No, the day of another love without you will come
Come on, you see, it’s already tomorrow
Forever without you
Come on, you see, it’s already tomorrow
Forever without you

lyrics

Don’t you see?
Don’t you see that nowadays I’m not a child anymore?
Don’t you see that the years have passed?
After time, my heart has also grown
And I love you much more than a friend

Don’t you see that you take my arm each time?
Don’t you see that I lean on you?
When you embrace me, I’m afraid that people will say
That we are, you and me, brother and sister

People say that love is blind
But I think it’s deaf like you
It’s true that I’m all alone when I tell you that

Don’t you see that nowadays I’m not a child anymore?
Don’t you see that the years have passed?
Deep in me, love has grown too
And I love you much more than a friend

Don’t you see that I take your arm each time?
Don’t you see that you lean on me?
The first step – I had to take it before you
And you love me since that day
And we love each other since that day

lyrics
Which heart are you going to break?
Which heart are you going to break
Now that mine
Stopped beating for you?
Which heart are you going to break?
Since I have nothing anymore
Nothing from you but words without voice

Which heart are you going to break
Giving him the hope
Of a dream life for two?
Which heart are you going to break
Making him believe
That only you can make him happy?
Happy…

It’s so easy to make believe
The roads seeded with flowers
Above all since we spoke to our heart
That asks us only to believe in it

Which heart are you going to break
Now that mine
Believes in nothing anymore, neither in you?
Which heart are you going to break
Just for vain pleasure
Of feeling that he lives under your law?

What heart are you going to break
Following your road
Believing that you live your life?
What heart are you going to break
Throughout your life?
Yours, yours, yours

lyrics
Looking into the sun
I would like, I would like to stay with you looking into the sun
I would pray, I would pray to see the rainbow

And so if another day dies, I would search in your eyes
To find those words saying I love you, I love you, I love you

I would like, I would like to hold your hands in mine
Even if there will never be a star of my love in the sky

I would like, I would like to hold your hands in mine
Even if there will never be a star of my love in the sky

“Bonjour, Bonjour” (“Good day, Good day”) was the Swiss entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1969, performed in German by Paola del Medico. By the close of voting, it had received 13 points, placing it in 5th place in a field of 16.

lyrics
Good day, good day
Good day, good day, it’s wonderful to see you once again
Good day, good day, especially today the sun shines so beautifully
My only wish is to walk through the town led by your hand
Good day, good day

The sky laughs like my heart, when you love me dearly
Flowers are blooming, where previously could be found street dust
A bird sings for us in a minor and a major key:
“Good day, good day”

The world is wonderful, it can’t be more beautiful
And it only belongs to the lovers

Good day, good day, it’s wonderful to see you once again
Good day, good day, only with you the sun shines so beautifully
My experience with you, that’s all love
Good day, good day

“Good day, good day”, says everybody, who sees you and me
Good day, good day, the clock chimes and it stops for us
Soon a monument will take off his hat, that’s what I’m waiting for
Good day, good day

The world is wonderful, it can’t be more beautiful
And it only belongs to the lovers

“Good day, good day”, fortune says and it comes to us
In your arms I fly into the sky
Inspite I also know, that after the lucky time
Only loneliness will remain

Good evening, good evening, it was wonderful to see you once again
Though it’s hard for me to leave you such in love
I dream of you till you come back and then I only say:
“Good day, good day”

“Retour” (“Return”) was the Swiss entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1970, performed in French by Henri Dès. At the close of voting, it had received 8 points, placing 4th in a field of 12.

lyrics
Return
You wait for me at least every night
And I take the train to Italy
I’ll stay there for ten days, neither very long nor too short
It’s a bit far, I know, but take care
On my return, I’ll have in a jewel case
The photos of my girlfriends
And Italy will be well worth some nights

Pa pa ba pa pa pa… pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa pa ba pa pa…

You care more for a soul mate than for a sister
And I’m careful with your heart
I’m about to leave for England
It’s a bit far, I know, but take care
On my return, I’ll have in a jewel box
Two or three caprioles and some little curls
And your pain will be well worth my ardour

Pa pa ba pa pa pa… pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa pa ba pa pa…

You give your love better than a mother
And I play deaf, like taking air
I go to conquer all the cuties
That’s not nothing, I know, but take care
On my return, I’ll have in a jewel case
A great experience, you can trust on me
And our love will be well worth a detour

Pa pa ba pa pa pa… pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa pa ba pa pa…

You close your eyes to my absence
You don’t speak much, you are the mercy
I know that between all, at the end of my routes
I’ll keep for you, in the bottom of my heart
A special place, like a flower
And then a ring, that will make people jealous
And your love will be well worth my return

Pa pa ba pa pa pa… pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa ba pa pa…
Pa pa pa pa pa… pa pa pa ba pa pa…

It’s the song of my love
My heart was charmed
By the song of my love
My love

She’s there throughout my life
She waits for me in the wind and under the rain
In the blue of a blue sky in full noon
In my boring night so far from him

One day, it was December
I went alone under the rain
We’ve found each other
To share the same shelter

His hand took mine
We loved each other the same day
Time, hope, sorrow
It’s the song of my love
My love

She’s there throughout my life
She waits for me in the wind and under the rain
In the blue of a blue sky in full noon
In my boring night so far from him

Wild and tender words
It’s the song of my love
My heart was charmed
By the song of my love

Di di di da da… di di da da da di da da…
My heart was charmed
By the song of my love
My love

I’m going to marry, Marie
My friends, my good friends, I’ve got you together
We’re going to drown ourselves in champagne and whisky
Go like a spinning top
We’ll laugh and sing the whole night long
And then, tomorrow morning, I’ll go to the town hall
Go like a spinning top, go like a spinning top

I’m going to marry, Marie
And say goodbye to Sophie, Marianne and Virginie
Oh, don’t cry, Marie
Not more than you, Véronica and Rebecca
I renounce your caresses, your love, my sweet life

I’m going to marry, Roger
And say goodbye to you, Frédéric and you, Didier
Don’t make fun, Lucas
Not more than you, Napoléon, nor you, Colas
I renounce our feats, our crazy nights
And our youth which finishes today
Because I’m getting married

Tomorrow it’ll be good time
To think about life, to make children
To invest my savings
Go like a spinning top
Tomorrow I’ll be in prison
You won’t see me anymore
Let’s drink on my health and for my lost freedom
Long live the bride, long live the bride

I’m going to marry, Marie
And say goodbye to Sophie, Marianne and Virginie
Oh, don’t cry, Marie
Not more than you, Véronica and Rebecca
I renounce your caresses, your love, my sweet life

I’m going to marry, Marie
And say goodbye to you, Frédéric and you, Didier
Don’t make fun, Lucas
Not more than you, Napoléon, nor you, Colas
We have to remember that until the end of our life
And whatever may happen, we will remain friends
Even if I’m getting married

Nana nana na… nana… nanana nananana nana nanana…
Nana nana na… nana… nanana nananana nana nanana…
Na na nana na na…

lyrics
My call for you
Desire to the past
And the memory to our luck
Play a wild game with me
And every moment in time
I take them back from oblivion

My call for you
Will be a cry of love
That’s why the wind sings the song of desire

My call for you
Will be like a sunbeam
That takes our love to the flowers again

Questions if my life’s worthy
If it goes on without you
Days that are nothing but dreams
My life is an empty space
The reality is just a silhouette for me

My call for you
Will be a cry of love
That’s why the wind sings the song of desire

My call for you
Will be like a sunbeam
That takes our love to the flowers again

Oh, my call for you
Will be a cry of love
That’s why the wind sings the song of desire

My call for you
Will be like a sunbeam
That takes our love to the flowers again

That takes our love to the flowers again

The song is about the game Mikado. At the close of voting, it had received 77 points, placing 6th in a field of 19.

lyrics
Jackstraws
An old man was sitting mutely at the roadside
In all the noise and traffic
A child just threw a coin at him
He called him back
Then he showed him a jackstraw game
A bundle of sticks, multi-coloured and long
He threw them to a small circle
Softly singing

Jackstraws, jackstraws, that’s how the old game is called
Jackstraws, jackstraws, not everyone reaches the goal
You can get everything with some dexterity
Jackstraws, jackstraws, only trust your luck

Jackstraws, jackstraws, that’s how the old game is called
Jackstraws, jackstraws, never show a feeling
When something doesn’t concern to you, don’t touch it
Jackstraws, jackstraws, is now played by everyone

The old man said to the child before him
“Look at this, I’m taking a stick away”
“They remain completely unaffected”
“Those other sticks over there”
“This is the rule, and listen to me now”
“What a child can learn from this”
“When you make just one mistake”
“The next will follow”

Jackstraws, jackstraws, that’s how the old game is called
Jackstraws, jackstraws, not everyone reaches the goal
You can get everything with some dexterity
Jackstraws, jackstraws, only trust your luck

Jackstraws, jackstraws, that’s how the old game is called
Jackstraws, jackstraws, never show a feeling
When something doesn’t concern to you, don’t touch it
Jackstraws, jackstraws, is now played by everyone

lyrics
Djambo, Djambo
The birds have known the old man for many years
His eyes have seen so much and look so mild
He’s up at four and early every morning
He feeds them and feels happy like a child

Once he was a clown in the arena
People said the best that ever was
Now they call him good old Djambo Djambo
But in his dreams, he still hears the applause

Hey hey hey… hey hey hey… Djambo Djambo
Don’t be sad, for you know that the show must go on
Hey hey hey… hey hey hey… Djambo Djambo
It was you who had us laughing – you’re the one

And sometimes you can see him on the sidewalk
With little boys and girls around his feets
When Djambo Djambo plays his barrel organ
Children call it ‘circus in the streets’

Suddenly he eyes reflect emotion –
In Djambo’s mind, the limelight shines again
He’s back on stage and all the kids are laughing
Just as if the show would never end

Hey hey hey… hey hey hey… Djambo Djambo
Don’t be sad, for you know that the show must go on
Hey hey hey… hey hey hey… Djambo Djambo
It was you who had us laughing – you’re the one

Hey hey hey… hey hey hey… Djambo Djambo
Don’t be sad, for you know that the show must go on
Hey hey hey… hey hey hey… Djambo Djambo
It was you who had us laughing – you’re the one

It was you who had us laughing – you’re the one

lyrics
Swiss lady
She was rather slim, she was slim like a twig
And sometimes he took her out of his closet
There he played music and put his hand tenderly around her

He played rock ‘n’ roll, he played Dixieland
And was known as the One-Man-Mountain-Band
He said: “only thanks to her is the world full of music”
“She gives me everything and doesn’t forget me”

She’s my Swiss lady
And I – a man from the mountains
And who has ever heard her
Will understand me for sure

Yes, she’s my Swiss lady
And I – a man from the mountains
And who has ever heard her
Knows such an alphorn sounds so beautiful

Yahoo-oo-ooh
Yahoo-oo-ooh

Aooh… Swiss lady
Aooh… Swiss lady
Aooh

When he came home, he took her by the arm
Where he lovingly put her to pieces
But before that, he played one time in Dixie style again

And in the deep of the night, when the people have woken up
And complained, then he just laughed
He said: “I’m inviting you and let’s celebrate”
“Because my lady doesn’t want to sleep yet”

She’s my Swiss lady
And I – a man from the mountains
And who has ever heard her
Will understand me for sure

Yes, she’s my Swiss lady
And I – a man from the mountains
And who has ever heard her
Knows such an alphorn sounds so beautiful

Yahoo-oo-ooh
Yahoo-oo-ooh

Aooh… Swiss lady
Aooh… Swiss lady
Aooh

She’s my Swiss lady
And I – a man from the mountains
And who has ever heard her
Will understand me for sure

Yes, she’s my Swiss lady
And I – a man from the mountains
And who has ever heard her
Knows such an alphorn sounds so beautiful

lyrics
To live
Why not believe in the beautiful story
That makes the hearts and seasons sing?
I want to forget everything in your arms
And start it all again with you
Share the colours and the songs

Why not follow that beautiful story?
Why not smile at the new day?
We will escape my love
And we will find again the song
So that we will live finally in harmony

To live, we will be living a million joys
To pass the hours like free birds
To live, I want to live this musical dream
To steal the stars of love

Why not believe in the beautiful story
That makes the heart and the spring sing?
My life has started with you
The sun rose in happiness
You made me find again my heart of a child

To live, I want to live, this musical dream
To steal the stars of love
To live, we will be living
And turn back the hours
To steal the stars of happiness

Dawdler & co
We are the dawdler and company
And this is our melody
We are the dawdler and company
And make dawdler music

We are the dawdler and company
Something like us, the world has never seen before
Our home is nowhere
We are the dawdler and co

In old things that stand everywhere
Sometimes the best ideas are sleeping, whoa…
We convert them to musical instruments
And so our band was created

First somebody braught the pots
Out of this soon already percussion drums were made, whoa…
And what is inside of a watering can
Sounds perfectly like a trumpet

We are the dawdler and company
And this is our melody
We are the dawdler and company
And make dawdler music

It was in the garden of our grandma
Where one morning the wonder happened, whoa…
Since that day we are also playing
On a garden hose

We are the dawdler and company
And this is our melody, whoa…
We are the dawdler and company
And make dawdler music
And make dawdler music
We make dawdler music

lyrics
Cinema
Very small, sometimes he took me by the hand
Happy to small step I walked on the paths
Towards the city of a thousand lights, with my father
Towards the extraordinary and magic world of cinema

Peter Pan, he was the tallest
For all the little children
And Mickey was so merry when he sang in the meadows
Alice in Wonderland on Sunday afternoon
She was blond, she was beautiful
And the film never finished

Cinema, cinema, all the world is crazy about you
Cinema, cinema, you are the king of children
The pictures and the lights
Bring their imaginations to life
Like a dream carrousel
Turning and turning until infinity

Fred Astaire made me crazy
When his feet clicked on the ground
Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton
And the world of Walt Disney
The universe of my childhood will never leave me

Peter Pan, he was the tallest
For all the little children
And Mickey was so merry when he sang in the meadows
Alice in Wonderland on Sunday afternoon
She was blond, she was beautiful
And the film never finished

Peter Pan, he was the tallest
For all the little children
And Mickey was so merry when he sang in the meadows
Alice in Wonderland on Sunday afternoon
She was blond, she was beautiful
And the film never finished

Me without you
After the storm we walk a bit
On the humid sands we talk a bit
I was wrong, you were wrong
Whatever it was
We mustn’t speak about anymore

Me without you, what shall I do
I don’t breath if you are not here
Me without you, what shall I do
A butterfly that doesn’t fly anymore

Bring you on the wind like a year ago
The same sentiment, the same intensity
And find words that I never said
While the sun dies in my heart

Me without you, what shall I do
With my life and my days
Me without you, how I shall be
My love, I must invent you

Me without you, what shall I do
Me without you, how I shall be
My love, I must invent you

My love, I must invent you

Love we love you
We can cross the sea, fly around the earth
Chase after adventure, look for gold
We can leave our homeland
Change our nose and our life
But above all we need love

Love we love you, more than ourselves
More than money, politics and songs
And even though you chain us up
Our heart beats like a butterfly’s wings

We can believe in fantasy
Have eclectic tastes
Think in terms of Rossini or Travolta
We can go in for speed, yoga, business
Without love there is something missing

Love we love you, in spite of ourselves
You toss us to-and-fro like sailboats in the wind
And even though we’re in your power
We feel free and soar as seagulls

Love we love you, in spite of ourselves
You carry us along like fish in the ocean
However we like the way you lead us
It is a bit crazy but we can’t live without you

Love we love you, more than ourselves
More than money, politics and songs
Love we love you, love we love you
Our eyes are full of laughter and song
Our heart beats like a butterfly’s wings

lyrics
I don’t like it this way
In that way I don’t like, I don’t like it
Doing for love or not
An affair leaves a sign
A woman always loses something
Falling in love doesn’t make sense
You always stay with her

Even for fun, to spend an evening
To fight boredom
I don’t like it this way
If it’s only to make love
One time and never again, for a rushed act
Without any emotion
No feeling, nothing in here
I don’t like it this way

And then who will be, which of the two of us
Will be doubtful in their heart
It will be me, it will be me not you
Instead as if nothing had happened
You’ll return to her this evening

Even for fun, to spend an evening
To fight boredom
I don’t like it this way
If it’s only to make love
One time and never again, for a rushed act
Without any emotion
No feeling, nothing in here
I don’t like it this way

Even for fun, to spend an evening
To fight boredom
I don’t like it this way
If it’s only to make love
One time and never again, for a rushed act
Without any emotion
No feeling, nothing in here
I don’t like it this way

What colour is the sunshine?
Even when I was a little child, I thought about
How to paint a picture of the world
And who knows how a painter can do it?

Colourful and beautiful, full of sunshine
That’s how I saw every day, but only at night
The same question always crossed my mind

What colour is the sunshine?
What colour is the world?
Is it blue like the open sea?
Like the sky above?

What colour is the sunshine?
It casts shadow or light
Look at the world with open eyes
Or you won’t see the wonders

How to paint luck? Simply in fine red?
How to paint pain? What colour is the war?
How to paint hunger and misery?

What colour is the sunshine?
What colour is the world?
Is it blue like the open sea?
Like the sky above?

What colour is the sunshine?
There are many coloured pictures
The way you see things on earth
It depends only on your feelings

And love, no, love
A beautiful day, I like you
But it must not be love

Slowly, slowly, just so far, always
Slowly, slowly, just so much, always
Slowly, slowly, just fun, no tears
Slowly, slowly, just so far, always
Slowly, slowly, just so much, always
Slowly, slowly, no questions or scenes

You, I like to be close to you
And you, I feel extremely good with you
And I want to see you again quite soon
But now it’s better that I go

And love, no, love
A beautiful day, I like you
But it must not be love

Slowly, slowly, just so far, always
(You, it was a beautiful day)
Slowly, slowly, just so much, always
Slowly, slowly, just fun, no tears
(You, I would like to tell you)
(That I like you very much)
Slowly, slowly, just so far, always
(And I want to see you again sometime)
Slowly, slowly, just so much, always
Slowly, slowly, no questions or scenes
(But now it’s better that I go)

And love, no, love
No, it mustn’t be love but although
I feel inside that I love you

Slowly, slowly
Slowly, slowly, no questions or scenes
Slowly, slowly

lyrics
Not for me
Not for me, all those adventures
Not for me, easy come and easy go
Not for me
Those tricks after evenings at the disco
Not for me
I can’t stand advances anywhere
Be it at the opera or in the underground

I want a love written in capitals
I want a story that lasts a lifetime
I won’t unfold my wings
For a one night stand
No that’s not it
I want love, love the way it used to be
Tender feelings, that’s what I want from you

Not for me, all those extravagances
The parties, certain holidays
The follies that one regrets later in life

Not for me
I don’t trust those with experience
No thanks, all that was not really made for me

I want a love written in capitals
I want a story that lasts a lifetime
I won’t unfold my wings
For a one night stand
No, that’s not it
I want love, love the way it used to be
Tender feelings, that’s what I want from you

I want love, love the way it used to be
Tender feelings, that’s what I want from you
And why isn’t it that?

lyrics
Half and half
The world is like a swing forbidden to children
The more one side goes up
The more the other side goes down
Above it’s blue skies
Below it’s tears in your eyes
Not too much, not too little
There must be a middle way

The world is like an unforgiving stupid hour glass
The more one half fills the more the other empties
Below it’s ready to burst
Above nothing more to give
So many things to change
Make it half and half

Love is half and half
Always make it half and half
Sharing happiness
Imprisons misfortune
Love is half and half
Always make it half and half
All the good which you give
Imprisons the bad

But somewhere an errant plane crashes in the desert
And the book of life returns to dust
The angel of fortune has struck
The spirit has fled
The message remains
We are going to make it half and half

Love is half and half
Always make it half and half
Sharing happiness
Imprisons misfortune
Love is half and half
Always make it half and half
All the good which you give
Imprisons the bad

Love is half and half
Always make it half and half
Sharing happiness
Imprisons misfortune
Love is half and half
Always make it half and half
All the good which you give
Imprisons the bad

Don’t leave without me
You, who look for the star
You, who live a dream
You, heroes of space
With a heart bigger than earth
You, give me my chance
Take me far away from here…

Don’t leave without me
Let me follow you
You, who fly to other existences
Let me live

The most beautiful adventure
The most beautiful voyage
Which will lead one day
To suns, to planets
Of love

You, the new poets
You, the magic birds
You, maybe you will
Find new music
You, give me my chance
I also want to sing…

Don’t leave without me
Let me follow you
You, who fly to other existences
Let me live

The blue of infinity
The joy of being free
On rays, on suns
On songs, on wonders
And in a sky
Of love

The blue of infinity
The joy of being free
You, who look for another existence
You, who fly towards the year 2000
Don’t leave without me

To live without you
If you and I had to live on this earth
The two of us and that nobody
Nobody would be without a human soul
Lonely and with bitter tears

That’s why I wanted to say, I would die without you
It’s with you, that life seems beautiful
That’s why I wanted to say, I would die without you
It’s with you, that life seems beautiful

I do not believe that I’d like to get old this way
Yes I’d prefer not to live in this world
People need each other
Even if they quarrel
If you’re honest you’ll agree with me

That’s why I wanted to say, I would die without you
It’s with you, that life seems beautiful
That’s why I wanted to say, I would die without you
It’s with you, that life seems beautiful
That’s why I wanted to say, I would die without you
It’s with you, that life seems beautiful

Music sounds around the world
It was alone, and nobody wanted it
I looked at it and felt in love with it
It became mine, it was beautiful like never before
the violin played for me this melody

Music sounds around the world
Music, that my violin plays
Music is heard in every house
Music that everybody feels
Music sounds around the world
Music, that my violin plays
Music makes fairy tales come true
Music, so wonderful

It plays in major, when the muse is kissing it
And in minor, when the violin cries
I stand by it’s side, I don’t want to lose it
Want to stand by its side, it is like a part of me

Music sounds around the world
Music, that my violin plays
Music is heard in every house
Music that everybody feels
Music sounds around the world
Music, that my violin plays
Music makes fairy tales come true
Music, so wonderful

Music sounds around the world
Music, that my violin plays
Music is heard in every house
Music that everybody feels
Music sounds around the world
Music, that my violin plays
Music makes fairy tales come true
Music, so wonderful

A song for you
I, this evening want to dream a little
To stop reality with four notes
Then, joy comes back into my mind
If there’s a song of mine

It once again shows what is inside of me
In my similes and your complicity
Then, give a kick to my sadness
It’s now that you leave

Take me away with you, don’t ever leave me
I don’t want to lose you, hold me tightly because
There’s a song that will speak to you about me
I’ll entrust to it all my love for you

Then, to make out seated in a bar
With my notes and a dream inside of me.
No, it doesn’t help to stop reality
Close your eyes and go.

Take me away with you, don’t ever leave me
I don’t want to lose you, hold me tightly because
There’s a song that will speak to you about me
I’ll entrust to it all my love for you

A songs that sings and lives for you

lyrics
Mister Music Man
I dreamt for so long that I could hold him in my arms
I asked the conductor very silently:

Mister Music Man, do you want to play a sweet tune?
Do you have a slow, just for the two of us?
I dream so much that I could take him in my arms

Mister Music Man, do you have a song from the old days
That will make him dance with me?
Mister, be very kind, come to my aid

It’s incredible, I really did not expect it
Unthinkable, when I came all alone tonight

Mister Music Man, do you want to play a sweet tune?
Put the lights down around us
And let us dance with tenderness
And then I beg you
Mister, if you agree
Play it again and again

It’s incredible, I had lost all hope
Unthinkable, when I came all alone tonight

Mister Music Man, do you want to play a sweet tune?
Put the lights down around us
And let us dance with tenderness
And then I beg you
Mister, if you agree
Play it again and again

lyrics
Quite simply myself
You, gentlemen, wind sellers
You, trainers of performing dogs
Magicians, snake charmers
Dust in the eyes for children
On the great ball of fake dreams
Where the stage is erected
It’s no use that the guitars start to play
I won’t come dancing

Out of question to burn my wings
Out of question to follow your steps
I don’t have time
And if tomorrow luck is with me
First of all, I want to be myself
Quite simply myself

You, gentlemen, money makers
You, the false-talent seekers
Puppets in appearance
Golden records and blank cheques
In the palace of vanaties
Limousins and publicity
It’s no use to crackle your flashlights
I won’t come prancing

Out of question to burn my wings
Out of question to follow your steps
I don’t have time
And if tomorrow luck is with me
First of all, I want to be myself
Quite simply myself

Out of question to burn my wings
Out of question to follow your steps
I don’t have time
Don’t have time
And if tomorrow luck is with me
First of all, I want to be myself
Quite simply myself
Quite simply

And if tomorrow luck is with me
Before all, I want to be myself
Quite simply myself

“Sto pregando” (“I’m praying”) was the Swiss entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, held in Dublin, Ireland.Sung in Italian, it was performed by Lorenzo di Cicco under the stage-name “Duilio”, and was composed by Giuseppe Scaramello. lyrics
I’m praying
I’m praying for someone who has not yet realized
That life just has a big pain
Who believes what is written, will be certainly reborn
On a great and sweet day

I’m praying for you, for all the evil around
Which surrounds life
I’m praying for everybody, for the destroyed dreams
Why don’t you believe it?

I’m praying tomorrow, the sky, the sun, the stars
To forgive all the sins
I’m praying for those who are looking for love
And don’t know where

I’m praying for you, for all the evil around
Which sorrounds life
I’m praying for everybody, for the destroyed dreams
Why don’t you believe it?

I’m praying tomorrow, the sky, the sun, the stars
To forgive all the sins
I’m praying for those who are looking for love
And don’t know where

I’m praying in the silence of memories
That the time of my dreams may stay here again
A light will shine for those who know
How to find the sun in the darkness

“Mon cœur l’aime” (My Heart Loves Him) was the Swiss entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 1996, sung in French by Kathy Leander. The song was written and composed by Soren Mounir. at the close of the voting it had received 26 points, placing 16th in a field of 23.

lyrics
My heart loves him
Alone today, I watch my life
Passing by to the rhythm of my nights
Sometimes I feel selfish and lost
Desperately sad

I told him that he had to go away
Like a long battle
That I wanted to win
I thought it necessary to hold out
Not to keep him
Today tears fail me

My heart loves him, when I think of it
I shouldn’t allow myself to go by appearance
But even if he takes me far away
I will give him my hand

He stole too many tears from me
In exchange he left me his soul
But I’ll wait for him to return
To start everything over again

And I thought everything was all roses
Like the blue of his magical gaze
I only had to smile at him
And lie to him to belong to him

I told him that he had to go away
Like a long battle
That I wanted to win
I thought it necessary to hold out
Not to keep him
Today tears fail me

My heart loves him, when I think of it
I shouldn’t allow myself to go by appearance
But even if he takes me far away
I will give him my hand

He stole too many tears from me
In exchange he left me his soul
But I’ll wait for him to return
To start everything over again

My heart loves him, when I think of it
I shouldn’t allow myself to go by appearance
But even if he takes me far away
I will give him my hand

He stole too many tears from me
In exchange he left me his soul
But I’ll wait for him to return
To start everything over again

My heart loves him, when I think of it
I shouldn’t allow myself to go by appearance
But even if he takes me far away
I will give him my hand

“Dentro di me” (“Inside of me”) was the Swiss entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 1997, composed and sung by Barbara Berta in Italian.at the close of the voting had received 5 points, placing 22nd of 25.

lyrics
Inside of me
Man, look within, what moves you
And makes you feel a bit lost
In this enormous universe
Made of so many things

Too many words, spoken to speak
Never to be understood
What keeps you away
From what’s within reach
But unreachable

Inside of me, I make room because
Inside of me, I need you
Inside of me, inside of me
I keep a place for you
Who needs me
You need me

Man, open your mind
Don’t hesitate to unveal your good and bad sides
Also errors have their value
They help one to grow

Inside of me, I make room because (because)
Inside of me, I need you
Inside of me, inside of me
I keep a place for you
Who needs me

Inside of me, I take a breath because
Inside of me, I’ve been running to you
Inside of me, inside of me
I want you even when
You’re different to me
You’re different to me

Man, how many misunderstandings
What reasons keep us so far away from each other
When within reach
You’ve got the incredible?

1998

“Lass’ ihn” (“Let him”), was the Swiss entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The song was sung by Gunvor, who wore a sleeveless, glittering dark red dress for her Eurovision appearance. At the close of the voting it had received no points placing last in a field of 25.

lyrics
Let him
He serves cocktails every night
He wins all women over
Using his charm
You also let him dazzle you
After an hour, you were already in his arms

Leave him
He often left you waiting
Nothing was true
Let him go once and for all

How often he lied to you
You thought he would change
You wanted to believe
It didn’t hurt

Saturday and you’re looking forward for the night to come
You still have loads to do before you finish work
But you keep thinking about it
You can’t get him out of your mind
You leave work
Even abandon your job

Leave him
He often left you waiting
Nothing was true
Let him go once and for all

How often he lied to you
You thought he would change
You wanted to believe
It didn’t hurt

Leave him
He often left you waiting
Nothing was true
Let him go once and for all

How often he lied to you
You thought he would change
You wanted to believe
It didn’t hurt

You say it doesn’t hurt
It hurts so much

“La vita cos’è?” (“What is life?”) was the Swiss entry for the Eurovision Song Contest in the year 2000. lyrics
What is life?
I wake up in the morning
The coffee I made yesterday is still hot
The rain over the window
Is reading my thoughts

I wonder where my absent love is
The telephone has not rung
Your smile makes me crazy
I can’t wait anymore

I know it was not easy, my fragile heart
Is burning in a moment and flies straight with the wind
I feel like a little seawave, the blueness of love
Now you are in my days

Where is life? What is life?
A thorn which hurts my heart
If you are not here

Where is life? What is life?
A balcony of love with no applause
If you are not here

Divide the world with me, make me live every day
To shine like the light of a star
To live love in the sky, is such a beautiful thing
Hold me strongly, kiss me

Where is life? What is life?
A thorn which hurts my heart
If you are not here

Where is life? What is life?
A balcony of love with no applause
If you are not here

If you are not here

lyrics
In the garden of my soul
I dream of a summer house
That only belongs to us
Of an island on which
The dream goes on until the end
Of a small Garden of Eden
Cradle of our love
That realizes this dream
By offering its treasures

In the garden of my soul
Your heart is covered in flowers
In the garden of my soul
You will find your home
The most beautiful rose
Delighted me a thousand times
In the garden of our soul
There’s only you for me

Come into my summer house
Come and find me
Love lends you its wings
You will arrive there
The fortune that finds us
Followed us from afar
Nothing can separate us
We are its witnesses

In the garden of my soul
Your heart is covered in flowers
In the garden of my soul
You will find your home
The most beautiful rose
Delighted me a thousand times
In the garden of our soul
There’s only you for me

In the garden of my soul
Your heart is covered in flowers
In the garden of my soul
You will find your home
The most beautiful rose
Delighted me a thousand times
In the garden of our soul
There’s only you for me

Teach me all about philosophy

But for now I only want to say

Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Everybody just clap your hands
Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Have a wonderful time

Celebrate, oh celebrate
Everybody, let’s celebrate

Cause the world is a beautiful place

Clap your hands, oh clap your hands
Everybody just clap your hands

The song was officially made public on March 5, 2005 during a show hosted by Sandra Studer to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest. The song is written by John O’Flynn and composed by David Brandes.

lyrics
Cool vibes
Don’t want you to lead me to the dark
Don’t need you to tear my heart apart
Don’t do that, though people say that you’re my enemy
I know you can set me free (Oh oh…)

Don’t want you to come so close to me
Don’t need you to blow my fantasy
But I know that you are livin’ far beyond those lies
I can see the danger rise in your eyes

Cool vibes, why don’t you kill me?
Cool vibes, why don’t you turn your eyes away?
Can’t you see we’re free to die?
Cool vibes, all we can do is fight and pray

Cool vibes, why don’t you thrill me? (Cool vibes)
Cool vibes, why don’t you kill me?
All that I can see are shadows of my destiny (Oh oh…)

Don’t want you to make me feel afraid
Don’t need you to take away the hate
But I know that you will break the seal of mystery
Leave it to my fantasy, what will be?

Cool vibes, why don’t you kill me?
Cool vibes, why don’t you turn your eyes away?
Can’t you see we’re free to die?
Cool vibes, all we can do is fight and pray (Oh oh…)

Cool vibes, why don’t you thrill me? (Cool vibes)
Cool vibes, why don’t you kill me?
All that I can see are shadows of my destiny

Stay close to me, infinity
Enigma’s what we share
But I don’t care
You’ll be there

Cool vibes, why don’t you kill me? (Cool vibes)
Cool vibes, why don’t you turn your eyes away?
Can’t you see we’re free to die?
Cool vibes, all we can do is fight and pray
(For some broken heroes)

Cool vibes, why don’t you thrill me? (Cool vibes)
Cool vibes, why don’t you kill me? (Cool vibes)
All that I can see are shadows of my destiny

lyrics
If we all give a little

Everybody has a dream
What will come and what will be
And hopes it soon will be reality

But a dream is not enough
There’s so much we gotta do
To overcome the bitter blue

‘Cause we all know one hand alone
Can never move a rock of stone
It takes us all, me and you

If we all give a little
If we all give a little
We can make this world a home for everyone
If we all give a little
We can dry a million tears
And some hope will grow out of many fears

Everybody has some strength
They could spend on someone weak
Don’t let life be a game of hide-and-seek

Everyone has things to give
To someone just to carry on
And with our help, to overcome

We all have learnt a word alone
Can never touch a heart of stone
It takes much more, more of us

If we all give a little
If we all give a little
We can make this world a home for everyone
If we all give a little
We can dry a million tears
And some hope will grow out of many fears

If we give a little love
Just believe it’s really worth
Many million hearts are beating on this earth

If we all give a little
If we all give a little
We can make this world a home for everyone
(For everyone)
If we all give a little
We can dry a million tears

And some hope will grow
(It will grow forever)
Out of many fears
(If we stand together)
If we give a little, just a little
(If we give a little love)
Give a little love

If we all give a little
(Just a little love)
All give a little (If we give a)
(A little) love

lyrics
Vampires are alive
(Vampires are alive)
(The legends have to survive)
(We’ll never come undone)
(And we will be forever young)
Vampires, get a life

I am a vampire, I’m a slave
A slave to the daylight, hence my grave
In the darkness, in the shadows – here I am
(Here I am)

I want you to be forever mine
Together until the end of time
Like a nightmare, never ending
Let me change your world

(Vampires are alive)
(The legends have to survive)
(We’ll never come undone)
(And we will be forever young)

Vampires are alive
(And we will be forever young)
Vampires, vampires are alive
(And we will be forever young)

Tonight is the night, live a thousand years
Don’t be scared, don’t drown in tears
Free your spirit after midnight, sell your soul
(Let it go)

From heaven to hell, enjoy the ride
You’re here to surrender with your life
Precious victims, my desire, live eternally

(Vampires are alive)
(The legends have to survive)
(We’ll never come undone)
(And we will be forever young)

Vampires are alive
(And we will be forever young)
Vampires, vampires are alive
(And we will be forever young)

(Vampires) are alive
Vampires are alive
(Vampires)

lyrics
It was wonderful
There’s a part of me
That can’t be silenced
When I look at the hatred there is
The pain, the poverty
I see myself again as a child
Running in the blue

It was wonderful to fly away
To challenge the wind, the imagination
Your hand and mine
In the same poetry
It was wonderful

But one night you’ll see
I’ll escape from fate, I swear
If life will wait for us
We’ll go back down there

It’ll be wonderful to fly away
To still challenge the imagination
And then your hand and mine
In the same poetry
It was wonderful
It was wonderful

Because there’s no peace, as long
As everyone thinks of himself

It was wonderful to fly away
To challenge the wind, the imagination
Your hand and mine
In the same poetry
It was wonderful
It was wonderful

2009

Switzerland competed in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. The Swiss broadcaster, SRG SSR idée suisse, internally selected Lovebugs to represent the country with the song “The Highest Heights”.Since Switzerland is not one of the “Big Four” and is not the host of the 2009 contest, it had to compete in one of the two semi-finals. The song competed in the first semi-final but failed to reach the final.

lyrics
The highest heights
I climb a tree, so mighty high
I see the world from just beneath the sky
The dreams I dream, they take me high
Oh, it’s always worth a try

The time is now, so stop the tease
And may I have your attention, please
The time has come, the curtains call

Will you catch me when I fall? Oh yeah
From the highest heights of all? Oh yeah

I climb this tree, the highest heights
From beneath the stars, I see little lights
The dreams I dream demand their rights
Oh

Will you catch me when I fall? Oh yeah
From the highest heights of all? Oh yeah

How will I ever know?
I’ve always gotta know
Will you catch me?

Will you catch me when I fall? Oh yeah
From the highest heights of all? Oh yeah
Will you catch me?

lyrics
It’s raining gold
Pam dadadam dadadam…
Padada dadadam…
Padadam padadam…

At the horizon, a touch of silver
Like after a storm, the clouds disappear
The summer nights, forgotten dream
Thanks to your perfume, I find my way back

It’s raining gold, each time you talk to me about love
It’s raining gold, let’s leave together for the big journey
Under the starry vault, the destinies are golden
It’s raining gold

Pam padadam padadam…
Padada dadadam…
Padadam padadam…

And in the morning, shared secrets
The exchanged glances are accomplice of summer
The day chases magic
The shimmering eyes remain

It’s raining gold, each time you talk to me about love (It’s raining gold)
It’s raining gold, let’s leave together for the big journey
Under the starry vault, the destinies are golden
It’s raining gold, the whole night and until the dawn
It’s raining gold

Dance with me, fly with me
Speak quietly, speak with me

(It’s raining gold) It’s raining gold
(It’s raining gold)

It’s raining gold, let’s leave together for the big journey
Under the starry vault, the destinies are golden
It’s raining gold, the whole night and until the dawn
It’s raining gold

2011

Switzerland participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany and selected their entry through the national final Die grosse Entscheidungs Show, organised by Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR idée suisse (SRG SSR).After 6 years of internal selections it was announced in June 2010 that SRG SSR were looking at possibilities to hold a national final to select the Swiss entry, the first time since 2004.

She managed to earn 10th place after a good performance, with 55 points, narrowly beating Armenia and Malta who both drew on 54 points. This ended a run of not qualifying for the grand final since 2006, their last qualification into it. Switzerland drew position 13 in the grand final on the 14th of May 2011. Anna sung very well, and again drew a good reaction from the crowd. However at the end of voting, Switzerland came 25th and last on 19 points which was a poor result.

lyrics
In love for a while
I looked into your eyes, and when I saw your smile
I knew right from the start: life is good for a while
Romance comes and goes, but a love like ours is here to stay
Each lovely night and sunny day

I love everything about you, I couldn’t do without you
Whenever you’re near me, all my days are on the bright side
But when I’m not around you, I have to find the way
To be with you each night and every day

Na nanana nanana… na nanana nanana…
Na nanana nananana… na nananana…
Na nanana nanana… na nanana nanana…
Nanana nanana nanana…

And as time goes by and we’ve seen stormy weather
I know that you and I, we’re always getting better
But when I’m not around you, I have to find the way
To be with you each night and every day

Oh, I couldn’t do without you, yeah
I have to find the way to… to be with you, no oh no no oh…
I love everything you do
I have to find the way to be with you

I know you and I are in love for a while

Unbreakable
You can do anything you want
It doesn’t matter how hard it is
You can do it, you can do it

So please, don’t mind, close your eyes
Take a trip outside your head
You can give me more

Swim against the stream
Following your wildest dream, your wildest dream
Swim against the stream
Following your wildest dream, your wildest dream
Swim against the stream
Following your wildest dream, your wildest dream

Unbreakable, unbreakable
Unbreakable, unbreakable

Don’t stop rock, rock this place
Don’t stop tryin’, try your best
Don’t stop, don’t stop movin’

Today without a doubt, a good vibe is in the crowd
You can do it, you can do it, you can do it
Unbreakable, unbreakable
You can give me more

Swim against the stream
Following your wildest dream, your wildest dream
Swim against the stream
Following your wildest dream, your wildest dream
Swim against the stream
Following your wildest dream, your wildest dream

Unbreakable
Unbreakable

So please, don’t mind, close your eyes
Take a trip outside your head

Unbreakable, unbreakable
Unbreakable, unbreakable
You can give me more

Swim against the stream
Following your wildest dream, your wildest dream
Swim against the stream
Following your wildest dream, your wildest dream
(You can give me more)

Swim against the stream
Following your wildest dream, your wildest dream
